2020 was a difficult year, and we look forward to 2021 with hope. We hope that things will be better. We hope for an end to the pandemic and a return to “normal”. We hope for peace and love and financial success. We hope that somehow turning the page on our calendars will make things better. But is that true hope or just wishful thinking?
In whom or in what are you placing your hope? Instead of simply wishing for things to be better, let’s place our hope in our sovereign and all-powerful God. In Psalm 62:5, David wrote, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him.” Rest for our souls is something we all need after such a difficult year. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Jesus doesn’t offer us just wishful thinking but a promise that we can trust. If we place our hope in Him, we can be assured that He will help us through anything that we face.
David went on to write in Psalm 62:6, “Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” Make no mistake, Friend, 2021 will try to shake us just as 2020 has. But if we place our hope in the Lord, we will stand firm. Allow Him to be your rock, your solid foundation in the storm. Trust that God will always be with you and will strengthen you to endure whatever comes your way. God never promised that our lives would be free of difficulties. But He did promise to walk through these difficulties with us. Psalm 23:4 says, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”
I pray that this year you will turn to Jesus to be your rock and your salvation. If you don’t already know Him, I pray that you will seek Him. If you need prayer or someone to walk with you, know that we at Missing Peace Cafe are here for you. You can respond to this message or send an email to MissingPeaceCafe@gmail.com.
